Here's another rather unknown but fantastic piano trio side on Argo by King Fleming! This is the second of his three sides on Argo/Cadet, a very polished and accomplished side that really shows off Fleming's professionalism and eclecticism in a wide variety of settings from straight ahead jazz standards/blues/r&b/ragtime-New Orleans jazz... and even to World/West African experimentation... 'B3; Stand By Part 2 is really a quite wonderful and exhilarating listen. There's also several nice Fleming originals which demonstrate Fleming's talent as a composer - he really should have recorded more!

Yet this side has been largely forgotten these days, which is unfortunate as it's quite historically significant as one of the musical roots of the landmark AACM/ avant garde jazz movement which came out of Chicago at the end of the decade. AACM founder Malachi Favors appears here on bass as one of Fleming's sidemen - and it's a bit odd to hear him in these relatively tranquil surroundings - but perhaps the journey from the Argo sound/straight ahead - hard bop to the AACM avant garde isn't that far... Improved fidelity from my last Fleming offering, a rip of the original Argo mono deep groove vinyl which was in nice condition
