This is one of my desert island vinyls and truly one of the seminal early 60s Chicago hard bop sides. The MJT+3 a.k.a. 'Modern Jazz Two Plus Three' comprised of a mix of Chicago and Memphis musicians were such a tight and soulful quintet that it's a shame that they didn't achieve much mainstream success during their brief existence from 1957-62. Their take on hard bop is also quite distinctive, which grooves like nobody's business... Astonishingly out of print, I offer a excellent rip from the original Vee-Jay vinyl.
Get it
Thanks for the MJT+3, Preston! Been looking for this one for a while...also threw a link here on my Walter Perkins mini-bio:
