Ah yes, the second of Impulse's two short lived folk experiments i.e. 'The New Wave of Folk Music Is on Impulse! '(well 3 if you count the rather more successful Mingus' Black Saint)

Exceedingly rare and seldom heard, but Impulse completists should be happy about finally getting their hands on this. As for the music: rather dated (John Birch Society? - update: maybe it is relevant today? Tea Party movement?) banjo cum cheesy sixties folk music - I didn't care for this, but ripping this and posting this LP for posterity's sake. Fantastic quality rip off a Canadian pressing (Sparton of Canada, Limited, London, Ontario) - as I opened the sleeve, I realized that this record may have never been played since first purchased in 1962 !! (which may or may not be a comment on the relative merits on the content therein). Have fun with this.

UPDATE 21/03/10 - Thanks for the comments - I've uploaded a new correct and digitally restored rip. Since this side is a pretty inconsequential part of the Impulse! canon and not even a jazz side to boot, I'm not that inclined to spent much time splitting up both sides' tracks. However this side did teach me something useful during my early days of crate digging - there are reasons that some LPs have never been reissued - some are just not good.

Get it

  1. Many thanks for sharing this super rare album!
Unfortunately i have to agree that this is rather dated and even for a folk fan AND Impulse completist who never expected to ever be able to hear this, this was a major disapoinment. It's clear now, why this never got a reissue.
Just to let you know, A2 and A5 are not the individual tracks but the whole side a, while b4 seems to be corrupt. At least i'm not able to play it on my mac.
