Continuing my series on obscure Argos, here's another rarity from the 400o series - Johnny Hamlin Quintet featuring Marci Miller! I didn't really know what to expect from this side, but was pleasantly surprised to discover an energetic and quite enjoyable swing/big band side with nice vocals by Marci Miller.
Slightly old fashioned even for its release in 1961, this is commercial pop jazz for the supper club set (your grandparents), executed by some good professional players. Nothing groundbreaking here, but I smiled when I put this side on my turntable. Ok fidelity after some slight restoration from the original white Promo Argo vinyl.

thank you to be a completist
ReplyDeleteMany thanks for this rarity. And I'm always intrigued by an unheard of vocalist!
