I'm launching a new Prestige Flamenco/Spanish music series on the blog with Los Morenos! These Prestige International sides are just about impossible to find today as not many were pressed originally (and they sold very little at the time, hence the survival of mostly free preview/promo copies) and they hold no collector cachet whatsoever (not exactly Tina Brooks' True Blue here).

However, they're fun and spirited recordings, exciting to unearth and discover for the blog. Also, most of these Prestige International sides were impeccably recorded by the legendary Rudy Van Gelder, and sound fantastic - this is a nice bonus as other similar 'ethnic-folk' material of the time was often poorly served by other budget cheapo labels.

I'm not qualified enough to comment intelligently on the Flamenco, but according to my untrained ears, this side sounds good! Kind of like a soundtrack for a lost Almodovar movie.

Get it
