More Shirley Scott, and it's the ultimate jazz organ groove/soul jazz side ever- cut live at Newark, New Jersey's Front Room during one cold but groovin' early December 64 night! This obscure late 70s Impulse 2 LP reissue essentially duplicates Shirley's classic "Queen of The Organ" issue (Impulse A-81) with a whole separate LP of then unreleased bonus material from the same night which then made it on to the subsequent now OOP CD issue - however, with the exception of track B3 'Shirley's Shuffle' which is only available on this particular issue, for some strange reason. I've been trying to hunt down this particular LP just for this cut for ages now.
In any event, I prefer this LP issue of this classic material as it's mastered much more sympathetically, sequenced better and they've left in additional crowd noise, applause, people chatting (and not paying attention to Shirley!), random club noise which gives you the feeling of actually being in the room. Of course, Shirley is supported by one of her strongest lineups ever , from the landmark Everybody Loves a Lover side, including her then husband Stanley Turrentine on Tenor Sax. The interaction between Shirley and 'Mr T' are classics of the organ/soul jazz genre. This is quite genius and one of the landmark jazz recordings of the 60s (no Joke!) Note - a big download.
